Bună ziua lume!

Having traveled about 1.500 km we’ve finally arrived in Bucharest. Despite the fact that NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) has had an slightly longer journey, we’re driven by the same curiosity, hoping to find new evidence for early ways of life. Whereas the MSL seeks to understand the geological composition and history of Mars to deduce whether or not life could have been possible there, we at the LoDanS project try to reconstruct hominin dispersal routes, again supported by geological studies (find out more about our project here).

Yesterday three of us arrived at Bucharest’s Henri Coandă International Airport. We made our way to a hostel in the city centre. Right now we are waiting for other participants to arrive. We’re planning on picking up our already hired cars tomorrow to buy some more equipment for the excavation and the survey. Today we had the opportunity for a relaxed but yet sweaty walk through the city, seeing for example the beautiful Russian Church St. Nicholas, the Unification Square and Cișmigiu Gardens.

We’ll be leaving Bucharest for Medigidia tomorrow. Subscribe to this site’s newsfeed or like us on facebook to follow our project. We’ll keep you updated! Vedem în curând!

P.S. Good luck to all other field projects around the universe, especially to MONREPOS’ excavation at Breitenbach!
