So far, the project has had three field seasons. The first one focused on the karst features and possible cave sites, and identified the site of Dealul Guran, Romania’s first Lower Paleolithic site, which we excavated in 2011 and 2012. Parallel to the excavation at Dealul Guran in 2011, as well as the paleoenvironmental work at the Urluia quarry, we continued the geoarchaeological survey work in 2012, focusing on loess open-air sites. The results of this work were submitted for publication and are currently in review. Stay tuned for more updates!
